NHL Hockey Exhibition in Everett

Question by Variant7: Is there still talk in the NHL about getting rid of the Shootout to determine tie breakers?
I heard a while back that the NHL owners were contemplating the removal of the Shootout. Is there a chance that this could still happen? I think most, if not all fans love the shootout because it’s exciting and good entertainment. Why would the owners ever think about getting rid of this aspect of the game?

There are discussions underway to extend the overtime with 3 on 3 before the shootout. Thus an attempt to end a team game with a team play.

I don’t think so. Besides 3 on 3 would be nothing more than a sudden death shootout with all that open ice.

Tied after 3 points a team deserves at least a point.

I don’t really mind the shootout but I don’t really think they’re going to get rid of it.
